(Last Updated On: 03/06/2013)

Aisam Ul Haque stunned Sania Mirza with an upset victory on Saturday, 1st of June 2013. Aisam Ul Haque Qureshi along with his Zimbabwean partner Cara Black comprehensively beat top seed couple of Sania Mirza and Robert Lindstedt of Sweden in straight sets by 6-2, 6-3. This was the first round of French Open Tennis Championship in Paris. The event was for the mixed doubles. Aisam and Cara Black did this upset in less than one hour time. First set was won by them in just 26 minutes. It took them only 32 minutes to win the second set.

In the past year Aisam Ul Haque wanted to select Sania Mirza as his Mixed Doubles partner. Sania Mirza turned it down and said that she has been going along well with Mahesh Bhupathi and she did not wish to switch her partner right now so playing with Aisam is not a possibility. Sania Mirza has been married to Shoaib Malik for over a year now and Pakistan Tennis Federation has been trying to persuade her to start coaching for Pakistan but according to the news she ruled this possibility out by saying that there are no international Tennis tournaments held in Pakistan.

Aisam Ul Haque and India’s Rohan Bopanna made it to the finals of the ATP South African Championship which was held in Johannesburg. This happened back in 2010. They lost the final but Aisam Ul Haque’s speech on the ceremony was the one which earned the hearts of many Pakistanis. He told the whole world that Pakistan is a country of loving and caring people and not a country of terrorists. He further added that we the people of Pakistan want peace as much as all the other nations do.
