Khidmat Card To Be Launched in Punjab Soon

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif announced launch of “Khidmat Card”. He said that as an expansion of Qarza-e-Hasana scheme, a health insurance scheme and Rozgar bank will be introduced that will concentrate on helping the needy. “Khidmat Card” holder will be able to get a monthly allowance of Rupees 500 in the start and the allowance will be increased gradually to 1000 Rupees per month. In order to be eligible for the Khidmat Card, the applicant must enroll one of his children in a primary school otherwise he will not be considered as eligible. 708 Children Force Married in Pakistan in Year 2013

At least 708 girls and boys observed early marriages or forced marriages in Pakistan during the year 2013. 264 such cases were recorded in Punjab, 199 cases took place in Sindh, and 143 cases were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while 102 cases happened in Balochistan. This information was revealed by Madadgar Helpline founder Mr. Zia Ahmad Awan during a conference “Addressing Gender Base Violence: Focusing on early and forced marriages in Pakistan”. According to Mr. Zia Ahmed Awan, 684 such cases were reported back in year 2012. Forced marriage cases were 276 in 2012 while in 2013 this number increased to 284 in the year 2013. More Than Half Pakistani Population is Malnourished

Half of Pakistan’s total population is malnourished. More than 58 percent is food insecure. These facts were revealed by Vice Chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Muhammad Mukhtar. While addressing International Conference on Biochemical and Chemical Sciences he said that Pakistan is among those three countries that account for half of the globe’s malnourished women and children. SDPI Report Says Balochistan Most Poor Province in Pakistan

5.87 Billion People in Pakistan are living a life below the poverty line. 46 percent of this poverty is present in rural areas while 18 percent happens to be in urban areas of Pakistan. The survey report “Clustered Deprivation” is released by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). United Nation Development Program (UNDP) also helped financially as well as provided technical assistance to SDPI for completion of this survey report. SDPI measures poverty using five dimensions – health, sanitation and water supply, education, household assets and satisfaction to service delivery. Pakistan Tops the Global List of Newborn Babies’ Death Rate

Save the Children has revealed that birth of dead children or the children that die on the first day of their birth has the highest rate in Pakistan than any other country of the world. According to the report 40.7 babies are born dead or die within 24 hours of their birth in Pakistan per 1000 babies. In contrast the mortality rate in children less than five years old has improved in Pakistan over the past 20 years.
