How do Ministry of IT and Ministry of Science and Technology Differ?

Ministry of IT and the Ministry of Science and technology are two pivotal ministries in the country. the ministries have different jobs to perform. Despite the clear difference, the people get confused at times about what these ministries actually are. It is therefore extremely important is to understand what these ministries have to do. All that is common in the ministries is the word Technology. In real this one word is the focus of both these industries but the only difference is that the use of technology in both cases is different.

MoITT or the ministry of the information technology or telecommunication is looked after by Mr. Khalid Maqbool, the MQM leader. It is a cabinet-level ministry that helps the government to design the plans and projects that can boost the financial status of the government of Pakistan. It is further divided into other institutions and departments that have specific jobs in the world of information. Some significant departments in this regard are Pakistan Telecommunication authority, Pakistan software export board and the ignite national technology fund.


MoST, on the other hand, is working hard to boost the country in the field of science and technology. The foundation of the ministry was laid in 1972 by the then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The job of the ministry is to help the country progress leaps and bounds in the world of science and technology. This is possible only when continuous research is carried out in the different fields of science including agriculture, industrial analysis, pharmaceuticals, electronics, biotechnology, etc. A number of laboratories are working all over the country to reach the goal of technological prosperity.
