The new force of the Punjab Police Department named Dolphin Squad to ensure the safety in the streets and residence areas of Lahore is going to patrol in the streets of Lahore soon. The news of the arrival of Dolphin Squad has shared from the official Facebook page of the ruling government Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as Coming soon to ensure a safer Lahore – Dolphin Squad. Dolphin Squad that was first scheduled to start its service by the end of 2015 is now scheduled to start its services in the upcoming months. Chances are high that Dolphin Squad will be on the streets of Lahore by the end of March 2016.
At the first stage of the Dolphin Squad, there are almost 1,200 policemen with an independent SP, four DSPs, a police representative and 12 constables. Dolphin Squad will make the work of Punjab Police even easier as it will then bound to focus on other issues instead of settling the local issues.
Each patrolling policeman will be provided with the Honda CB500X.
Dolphin Squad responsibility is only to patrol in their respective jurisdiction to maintain the law and orders. On May 31, 2014, the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had announced the establishment of the Dolphin Unit just like the Dolphin Unit in Turkey. The current officials of Dolphin Squad have been trained by the masters of the Dolphin Unit in Turkey as well.
