Background of the case
The case of Shahzaib was hot news all over the media a few months back. Social media played its role to convey this news to Chief Justice of Pakistan who took suo motu action on this. Shahrukh Jatoi was brought back to Pakistan from Dubai and Sikandar Jatoi was arrested. Media used this news as a hotcake to cash on. Hotcake went cold and old and the interest of Television channels came to an end. Shahzaib was killed when her sister was being given verbal threats by Shahrukh Jatoi and his servant and he asked them not to do so.
Decision was Pending Even After 7 Months
If it would have been a poor person, whose son would have committed this murder, till yet the decision would have been made. The poor person’s son would have been spending the rest of his life either in prison or would have been killed by relatives of the deceased. But this case is different. Since the killer Shahrukh Jatoi is the son of a very rich person named Sikandar Ali Jatoi, that is the reason that justice has not been done till yet. Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhary said that the decision is to be made in only 7 days, but 7 months have passed, decision just came.
Background of Sikandar Jatoi (Father of Shahrukh Jatoi)
Sikandar Ali Jatoi was an ordinary person who used to drive a truck. After that he became an ordinary contractor. During Nawaz Sharif Government, Ghaus Ali Shah gave him Zeal Pak Cement project in just 220 Million rupees. Sikandar Jatoi did not have to pay a single rupee and the purchase was done by taking loan from bank. This way Trillion rupees project was handed over to him for nothing. This was the start of Sikandar Jatoi’s journey towards becoming wealthier. Now he is the owner of various Sindhi TV channels and he has a lot of investment in the power hubs of the country where he has strong relationships with the politicians and other powerful people.
Life of Shahzaib Wasted?
Chief Justice asked the decision to be made in 7 days, but 7 months went by and yet there are no chances of decision. Rather the life of Shahzaib is reportedly sold in 250 Million rupees only. This deal although is not a bad thing in Islam and it is legal and permitted but the current situation where people are looking at Judiciary to make such decisions that can make them believe that Judiciary is playing its role and all people in this country are equal, it seems that hopes of people are going to die at least this time. It seems that life of Shahzaib has been wasted and mothers will now teach their sons to act like cowards when a rich and powerful person plays dirty with their sisters. This news has created an overall negative impact of Judiciary in people of Pakistan.
Role of Courts in this Monetary Deal
As a matter of fact, the courts do not have a role to play in monetary deals and all such deals are done outside the courts. The court cannot do anything in this regard.
An Anti-terrorism court (ATC) has awarded death sentences to the key accused, Sharukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur, in Shahzeb murder case while the other two accused have been given life imprisonment : Geo News
