In the last quarter, Samsung recorded its worst performance in the last two years. Main reason behind this bad performance obviously is flop sale of its Galaxy S5 flagship device. Majorly the design of Samsung has been criticized and it was now time for Samsung to bring new designs into the market and they did.
Samsung has now uncovered Galaxy Alpha and it took Samsung ages to introduce a high end phone made of metal. Galaxy Alpha has a 4.7” screen having 720p HD resolution. The pixel density is 320ppi and it is considered well enough for the time being in order to compete in 2014.
It also boasts Exynos 5 Octa octa-core processor having four Cortex-A15 cores clocking at 1.8 Ghz and four Cortex-A7 clocking at 1.3 Ghz. Mali-T628 MP6 GPU is also installed along with 2GB RAM and 32 GB storage which cannot be expanded.
On the back side of Samsung Galaxy Alpha, there is a 12 megapixel camera having the capability to shoot 4K video at a rate of 30fps. Samsung install a 2.1 megapixel camera at the front of the device for the selfie lovers.
Samsung has not forgotten to send the phone into the market with its usual fashion of gimmicks. Samsung Galaxy Alpha brings you a fingerprint reader and a heart rate scanner. Operating system of this phone is Android 4.4.4 KitKat and Samsung did not forget to customize it. Samsung S Health, Ultra Power saving mode and many other usual apps also ship with this device.
Battery is only 1,860 mAh that is rather small for this device. Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be offered in five different colors i.e. Black, Blue, Gold, Silver and White. It is just 6.7 mm thin and it is remarkable.
It couldn’t be said that the device has been completely redesigned but it is a good thing that Samsung has started to evolve design-wise. It isn’t all metal but the back-cover is dimpled and removable and this phone is not water proof as well.
Samsung plans to release this phone worldwide in September 2014 and only then the price-tag will be revealed. For the time being there is no confirmed hint on the price of Samsung Galaxy Alpha.
