The Government of Pakistan is finally going to take the step of launching PayPal in Pakistan. The Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman Umer Saif has confirmed this while in an interview with SAMMA TV. According to Umer Saif, Pakistan will get billions of dollar benefits because of PayPal.

It’s worth mentioning here that Pakistan is listed among Top Five Emerging Freelancing Countries of the world. The trend of freelancing and online shopping have been gradually increasing in Pakistan for the past few years. The PayPal will also give Pakistanis access to the international eCommerce platforms like eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, Ali Express and much more. With the launch of PayPal and likewise other international money transfer companies, Pakistan will also get the chance to compete in the international freelance market as well.

The Pakistani government was striving for the last few years to bring PayPal and other international money transfer companies in Pakistan. In this regard, Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman Umer Saif and ex-Minister of Information Technology Anusha Rehman played a significant role.

Pakistani authorities will meet the PayPal delegation soon in the near future to finalise the terms and conditions. Right after the news of final decision of launching PayPal service in the country, there is a lot of happiness among the people especially the Pakistani freelancers that are currently holding the significant part of the international freelancing market.

In the age of globalisation, Pakistan seriously needs international money transfer services like PayPal to expand the market span. The way of doing business are getting changed with the passage of each second. The importance of access to international trade channels cannot be minimized in this era. Along with PayPal, Pakistan also needs to strive to bring the other international business communities as well so it can get huge profit in this regard. Pakistani freelancing market is full of talented and skilled people. Our freelance market has top-notch web designers, graphic designers, content writers, academic writers, web developers, app developers, sketch artists, logo designers, online tutors, scriptwriters and much more. In short, Pakistani freelance industry has full potential, and it only needs government supervision.

If the current government is able to show serious concerns about the freelance industry, then it will surely have a significant impact on the overall economy of the country. Freelancing can contribute a huge share in annual GDP of the country. However, it is not possible without government supervision at all. The previous government has shown serious concerns for the freelancers and for the same reasons various freelancing training programs were introduced. However, the current government so far has no policies in this area at all. The existing government must understand the importance of freelancing that at one end reducing the unemployment rate and on other end contributing a lot in the forex reserves and GDP.

  • if PayPal come to Pakistan then anyone can buy sell trade export any item through eBay. And if PayPal not come then i suggest bring Stripe and Alipay to Pakistan. I wonder that XOOM is PayPal company and it is working with Pakistani Banks. So why PayPal not add Pakistan to directly to his service ?
