Before the Sindh Cultural Festival2014 even kicked off in Mohenjodaro, experts all over Pakistan and in foreign countries said that a huge stage is being built with steel and wood in Mohenjodaro for the Sindh Festival 2014 but it will really damage the delicate ruins of the ancient city. According to Antiquity Act these kinds of activities are not allowed as one cannot even stick a nail inside the ruins. Some others said that if the money spent on Sindh Cultural Fest 2014 was dedicated for protection of the ruins, it would have been a much more sensible step as the ruins are in very bad condition due to bad maintenance. Mohenjodaro ruins are estimated to be older than 2600 B.C. Even the members of Civil Society of Sindh carried out a protest against this step of Sindh Government and Pakistan People Party’s leadership in Larkana.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari decided to use all his powers and ignored all kinds of expert opinions and protests and carried out with his plan and yesterday the colourful festival took place.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ex-President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Ex-Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Hina Rabbani Khar, Sharmila Farooqi and 500 guests including Provincial ministers and leaders of Pakistan People’s Party. The stage was 80 feet wide and 50 feet long. Lighting was also done in different areas of the Mohenjodaro ruins.
This festival is due to run for 15 days and it will be celebrated at 18 locations throughout Sindh. Sharmila Farooqi who is the Sindh Minister for culture stated that they have invited only around 500 people to attend the inauguration ceremony of Sindh Cultural Festival 2014 because they do not want a huge crowd of people gather there and result in any kind of harm to the ruins.
Social media and social networking websites like Twitter, Facebook and other Pakistani forums have also been checked for the comments of people and there is no one supporting this step of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Everyone is quite surprised about a special moment in the inaugural ceremony of the festival where famous Pakistani singer Annie kicks off the festival with her song “Dama Dam Mast Qalandar” and a male model passing by her, kisses her on cheek.

Everyone is quite stunned by this action and all the discussion is about this incidence. Everyone is asking the question “How is this Sindhi culture?” Sindhi culture never allowed a public kiss.
Ali Gul Pir also performed at the inauguration ceremony of Sindh Cultural Festival 2014 at Mohejodaro.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari did a rap song having a hip-hop feel to the song. She raps in the song about how Pakistan should “stand tall” on their own soil with “pride”. This song was made in collaboration with Mooroo.
