Humans of New York (HONY) is one of the most commonly well-known community on Social Media. Brandon Stanton, Owner of HONY, is a 30-year-old self-taught photographer, who has been walking in the streets of New York, capturing photos, with information of stories – occasionally behind the photos and occasionally about the life of person in focus.
The greatest thing about this community is positiveness – internet world is full of trolls, dislike speech, and violence. But, HONY has broken all the shackles. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to express that HONY brand has managed to create the most tolerant and less judgmental community on the internet landscape.
Many well-known personalities and brands follow HONY’s stories and various times persons featured at HONY have; managed to raise opportunities, get the attention of the correct persons, and also improved their own lives. Earlier this year, one of the photos and its story went viral leading to $1 million donations for the Monty Hall Bridges Academy. There are plenty of similar stories like this spreading on the HONY Facebook page.
Brandon Stanton’s project additionally led to the creation of related pages across Pakistan and around the world. In Pakistan, many of these pages are either linked to Pakistani cities or universities but the most popular page is Humans of Pakistan which is being followed by more than two hundred thousand Pakistanis.
A few momemts ago, HONY page has officially shared an up-date which says that Brandon Stanton will be touring Pakistan this year in August. This is a good news for Pakistan, for several fellow countrymen think that Pakistan has always been under/misrepresented on worldwide media.
The beautiful stories of HONY have repaired our faith in humanity and strengthened our belief that every single person, no matter who he/she is, has a story to tell – a story which is amazing, unpleasant, interesting and sometimes heart-breaking too. If we consider the image shared by HONY closely, we can imagine that he’ll be going to the Northern Areas of Pakistan. We hope HONY gets to meet a diverse set of persons and gets to share the story across the world and enjoys the trip.
This isn’t the 1st time that Brandon Stanton has visited to a foreign country. At the same time last year, he went on a world tour in collaboration with U . N . and wrote detailed stories of his visit on HONY’s web site.
