Some months back the issue of sexual harassment in women cricketers of Pakistan was revealed in which some women cricketers alleged their male officials that they sexually harass them and using their authority for this purpose. They mentioned the names of Multan Cricket Club (MCC) Chairman Sultan Alam and selector Mohammad Javed.
As a result a committee was formed and an investigation took place on the above mentioned issue by Pakistan Cricket Board and now it has been finally concluded that allegations were false against Mohammad Javed and Sultan Alam. Five Pakistani women cricketers were banned as a result for 6 month time period. They cannot play any form of cricket during these 6 months. The ban is effective from 23rd of October 2013.
According to details revealed by PCB spokesman, the committee asked about the issue of sexual harassment from three women cricketers, they denied of having been sexually harassed or sexually exploited while two of the other women cricketers declined to present their case against the officials. Three of the women cricketers also put their statement into words according to which they said that they have never seen any kind of sexual harassment taking place in front of them.
These women cricketers went live on Television and made these accusations back in June this year. The committee further revealed that these women cricketers were involved in activities that caused the administration to put them under a ban under various offences and as a retaliation these women cricketers formed a propaganda in order to force the administration to remove the bans upon them.
Women cricketers are performing quite well on international scene but this issue raised concerns all over and projected a bad image of the Pakistani women cricket team across the globe.
