Experts and scientists working in Agriculture University Faisalabad claim that they have produced such breed of hens that can help a normal hen to lay more eggs. This number can even be twice. A normal hen lays 80 eggs and it can be increased to 150 eggs per hen.
Under the supervision of Dr. Sajjad Kan, scientists of Agriculture University Faisalabad have already started to distribute the new breed of cockerel or roosters (murgha) in villages. These cockerels will be kept along hens and these roosters will be able to help hens produce more and more eggs.
Initially in a ceremony headed by Punjab Sugarcane Research Development Board Chairman Noman Ahmad Khan and Vice Chancellor of Faisalabad Agriculture University Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, 100 roosters were distributed among hen-keepers. According to them, these roosters will help spread the new breed which will be able to produce eggs twice as much as compared to the current.
This will help reduce the poverty among those families who keep hens in order to earn their living. In addition these new hens might be able to produce more meat and can help the poultry sector in Pakistan to grow.
Poultry sector in Pakistan is growing at a rapid pace and with every passing year, more and more people are investing in the poultry.
