A while ago the news of Suzuki shutting down Suzuki Alto production in Pakistan hit us and simultaneously it was being said that company will launch Wagon R instead of Suzuki Alto. There was a lot of confusion about which version of Suzuki Wagon R will be released in Pakistan.
Meanwhile Suzuki Indonesia started to export Karimun Wagon R to Pakistan in order to test the car in Pakistan and after successful testing it could be assembled and launched in Pakistan.
The news is confirmed now that Suzuki Pakistan is all set to launch Wagon R G2 by 18th of April 2014 but at the moment there is no authentic information about price and specifications and other such things. The experts however claim that the car to be launched in Pakistan is expected to be 1000CC and expected price range is around 800,000 to 1000,000 Pakistan Rupees.
During the past three decades Suzuki Alto was the only small new car and with its production finished in Pakistan, buyers of small cars had this option shut down. Imported used cars provided relief to the small car buyers when the big companies were feeling that there was no real demand of small new cars in Pakistan.
Experts in the field claim that Suzuki will be able to significantly improve their margins with the launch of Wagon R because with the lack of new cars after Alto and Cuore’s production stopped, has really created the demand and the fact that Dollar and Japanese Yen are losing value against Pakistan Rupee.
With all the expectations, the fact remains the same that those interested in buying this newly produced car in Pakistan by Suzuki will have to wait because there is no confirmed information about specifications and price of this car. For the time being the Indonesian version with the same name might be considered the nearest thing.
