Keeping in view Minister of State for IT Anusha Rahman Khan’s role to empower women through technology, she was awarded the prestigious ‘GEM-TECH Global Achievers 2015’ award.
The highly influential lady of Pakistan was bestowed with the award on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly high-level meeting in New York.
The award was conferred as the two United Nations organizations, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and United Nations acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan’s IT minister to empower women and to prove the point with her initiatives which were directly enhancing the role of women in Information Communication Technology (ICT) field.
While addressing at the event, she looks indebted to the top leadership of the country who trusted and provide the chance to now IT Minister of Pakistan.
“I would not have been here if it were not for the confidence and opportunity provided by my political leadership. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar provided me a platform to deliver on our collective dreams for the people of Pakistan,” said the IT minister.
In several recent political tenure, the leadership provided the chances to the women to lead from the front and its best utilizing can be exemplified from last government’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and in ongoing tenure IT minister Anusha Rahman and Director of Operations at Punjab Food Authority Ayesha Mumtaz are the women aspiring the women of country to move forward.
