The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced one-day public holiday on December 16, 2015, across the province to remember the Shuhada of Army Public School. This was announced by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan during Facebook Live Speech that was organised by PTI yesterday (December 09).
Replying over a question about APS attack, Imran Khan said that it was a brutal tragedy in the history of Pakistan. We are constructing schools and monuments on the name of Shuhada of the APS. He said that the parents of children have demanded a university on the name of those children and we are making arrangements for this. The land has been already allocated for the university.
On December 16, 2014, a terrorist attack by Tehrik-i-Taliban was conducted on the Army Public School Peshawar that resulted in the killing of almost 141 people, including 132 schoolchildren. The ages of these children ranged between eight and eighteen. It was regarded as the one of the deadliest terrorist attacks ever to happen in Pakistan that had surpassed the Karachi Bombing 2007.
The brutal massacre prompted a massive reaction both on the local and international level. The Government of Pakistan and paramilitary forces then decide for retaliation against the perpetrators. For this, a complete operation in North Waziristan titled Operation Zarb e Azb was launched by the Pakistan Army after getting approval from the National Assembly.
