The Government of Sindh has announced a three-day public holidays for Karachiites due to Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain and Third phase of local bodies elections across the city. The decision for holidays was taken due to security reason in the province during Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A). Moreover, most of the teachers and government staff will be deployed for local body elections. As per the notification issued by the Sindh Government, 3-day holidays will be from December 3 to 5.
As per the notification issued by the Labour and Human Resource Department of Government of Sindh, all public educational institutions and offices will remain closed from December 3 to 5.
The holidays of December 5, on the day of polling day will be for the following 06 districts of Sindh province falling in the 3rd phase of local government elections to facilitate the voters to cast their votes at the polling stations with the jurisdiction of the districts as under: will now be observed by all the workers in the province Sindh:-
- Karachi West
- Karachi East
- Karachi South
- Karachi Central
- Korangi
- Malir
However, the private sector has made no kind of announcement to off their institutes. The notification also contains the order of restriction of pillion riding on the day of Chehlum. The ban on pillion riding will take effect from Wednesday (December 3) at PM and will remain effective till the midnight of Thursday (December 3).
Rangers and police have already been put on high alert by the Sindh Home Department in order to ensure security on Chehlum and LB polls in Karachi.
