In a recent survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan on Religion and Scholars, 44% of Pakistanis consider Maulana Tariq Jameel their favorite Islamic scholar.
Gallup Pakistan asked Pakistanis, “Please tell, out of the following famous personalities (who preach Islam worldwide), who is your favorite Islamic scholar?”
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Please tell, out of the following famous personalities (who preach Islam worldwide), who is your favorite Islamic scholar?” In response to this question, 44% mentioned Maulana Tariq Jameel, 21% mentioned Dr. Zakir Naik, 15% mentioned Dr. Amir Liaqat Hussain and 11% mentioned Ilyas Qadri. 4% also mentioned Tahir-ul-Qadri while 4% gave other answers and 1% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was conducted among a sample of 1807 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during February 29 – March 07, 2016. The error margin is estimated to be approximate ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
