Towards making the Punjab a global province and to facilitate the better coordination between the people, the Government of Punjab is going to install the free Wi-Fi hotspots in important public places in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. Arrangement for Lahore has been finalized while Pindi and Multan will get the free Wi-Fi in upcoming months.
Free Wi-Fi that was the long-discussed project of the Punjab Government is going to become the reality now. Punjab Information Technology Board and Umar Saif Vice Chancellor of ITU and Chairman PBIT have shared the news of the free Wi-Fi. According to recent news by the PBIT, the preparations to provide the free WiFi to Lahoris have been finalized. PBIT is going to provide the free WiFi in collaboration with PTCL.

Under the initiative of the Punjab Government to provide free WiFi, the centers will be set up in the three cities at parks, bus stands, and government offices. At the first stage, Lahoris will enjoy the free WiFi and later on this facility will extend to the other cities of the Punjab as well. Pindi and Multan will be the next cities to get the free WiFi.

According to sources, the PTCL will set up 115 centers for free WiFi in the Lahore. These 115 public places comprise Punjab Assembly, District Katcheri, Services Hospital, Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Model Town Park, Hazoori Bagh, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park. Moreover, twelve other parks, 117 main markets, metro stations and twenty colleges and universities will also get the free WiFi setup.
