The Pakistan Engineering Council is a constitutional and authentic body which was constituted under the PEC Act 1976 (V of 1976). Its main functions include registration of engineers, consulting engineers, constructors/operators and accreditation of engineering programmes which are being done in different accredited and recognized universities/institutions. The purpose of these programmes is to assist, ensure and manage professional development in Federal Government. PEC establish the standards for engineering products and services besides safeguarding the interest of its members.

PEC coordinates with the Government, both at the Federal and Provincial level by participating in Commissions, Committees and Advisory Bodies. It creates coordination between Government, industry and education to provide support to the Government in conducting technical enquiries and recommending remedial measures on the subjects referred. It is a completely representative body of the engineering community in the country. All HEC recognized universities and institutions imparting engineering & technology education should apply to PEC for accreditation of their engineering programmes. PEC will only register students graduating from Institutions offering accredited engineering programs. The students inducted & graduated from an unaccredited program would not be registered with PEC as practicing engineers in the country.

Below is the list of accredited engineering programs with PEC. This is a helpful list for all those students who want to take admission in an engineering programme. All the students and the parents must see the accreditation status of an engineering program of various Universities/Institutions and the Campuses or affiliated Colleges of the chartered Universities before selecting the institute and taking admission in such engineering programs.
