Chehlum of Imam Hussain will be observed on 21st November, 2016 on Monday with religious reverence. The day is not observed as a public holiday, but Private Schools Management Association – PSMA has called it off on the day.
According to the sources, the chairman of PSMA announced the holidays for schools on Chehlum of Imam Hussain quite a days back, when he announced the holiday on account of Iqbal Day.
Hereby it is also said that Private School’s Management Association Karachi has came up with the decision of holiday over this religious occasion, which means only the Karachi private schools will remain closed.
As the procession and events to pay tribute to Imam Hussain are held country wide on Chehlum, the security is kept high to avoid any untoward incident.
It would be kept mentioned that Iqbal Day wasn’t announced as a public holiday by the federal government but the rumors floating on social media left people confused that whether the day was restored as a public holiday or not. All this confusion led to low attendance of schools and colleges in Punjab.
Currently, PSMA’s notification seems to be only for the linked private schools of Karachi it isn’t to be mixed with any deceleration of public holiday or something like that.
