The Pakistani director’s ‘A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness’ is one of the five lucky short documentaries which have been shortlisted for the 88th Academy Awards.
The film unfolds the story of an 18-year old girl who survives the ‘Honor Killing’ attack. The director of the film intends to banish the mindsets of Pakistani society in which thousands of young females are butchered in the name of honor killing.
Furthermore, the acclaimed director wants to get all the legislators on the board and pass the anti-honor crime bill in the parliament.
Here it should be kept mentioned that as Chinoy’s film was shortlisted for the prestigious award, people from different fields of life to several celebrities came in to congratulate her over another milestone achievement.
Amid this, Pakistan’s Prime Minister also praised the lady and also invited her for the first screening of the film nominated for the Oscars 2016. Further, he also told that intellectuals and opinion makers from different segments will also be invited at the screening event.
