One of the leading auto brands in Pakistan, Suzuki, is going to make significant changes this year in Pakistani automobile industry. It is in the shape of replacing the Suzuki Mehran and Suzuki Cultus with the brands new Alto 7th Generation and Celerio.
The rumors are circulating in the industry since February 2016 that Suzuki Pakistani is going to make significant changes this year. The new Pakistani Auto Policy and then the possible arrival of leading German and European car makers in the industry finally forced the Suzuki Pakistani to do something of the plastic box Suzuki Mehran.
Both cars are considered as the one of the low budget cars in the country, but soon these will be no more part of the annual new models.
In a recent meeting with Suzuki Pakistan MD Hirofumi Nagao, the Federal Minister Planning, National Reforms, and Development Ahsan Iqbal analyzed the new model of Suzuki that is probably to launch in this year. At the meeting, Federal Minister said, “Present government is very keen to develop automotive industry in Pakistan.”

What is going to be new?
According to industry pundit in the country, the new Celerio and Alto 7th Generation will possibly feature a three-cylinder engine, K10B from the K-Next series. There will be no clutch pedal system this time that will deliver the new ease of shifting gears. In term of design and functioning, Suzuki Celerio is likely to be much similar to 1,300 CC Suzuki Swift.
The Suzuki Alto would be powered by a 600CC like three cylinder DOHC engine paired up with available options of the automatic transmission, CVT transmission or a five-speed manual transmission system. The claimed fuel consumption is 24.5 KM/L.
The Alto will be available in both options, FWD, and 4WD. This time, the security features like standard bags and safety airbags are also under consideration by the Suzuki Pakistan.
