Technology has grabbed an exclusive place in the dynamic world of knowledge and information today. It is also spreading at the fastest rate in Pakistan as well. For past five years, Pakistan has been witnessing continuous growth in the IT sector. The demand for BPO outsourcing, software developers, programmers, app designers, writers, etc. is increasing in the country.
At present, there are almost two thousand call centers and IT companies in the country. The number of IT professionals and expertise are even many times higher than the number of companies. The continuous demand and growth in the IT sector compelled the competent authorities to formulate the IT policy. Now Ministry of Information Technology has formulated the Digital Pakistan Policy 2017 that is based on the multi-stakeholder model.
The policy aims to serve as the foundation pillar for the construction of Digital Ecosystem with advanced concepts and components for the rapid delivery of next generation digital services, applications and content.

Further Implementation of Policy
The MoIT will develop an action policy along with relevant ministers and departments detailing the time frame and outputs. The Ministry will play the role of an enabler and facilitator, providing necessary guidance where required while other federal minister, divisions, and departments will take the lead role in the implementation of policy strategy falling within their domain.
