The Federal Government has announced the 1st March as a public holiday for twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Holiday has been announced for arranging strict security measures for the meeting of Economic Coordination Organization.
Today a high official meeting was headed by the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for reviewing the security measures for ECO Summit. The meeting was attended by the law enforcement authorities and civil administration. At the end of the meeting, Interior Minister issued the notice of holiday. The Islamabad administration has issued the security plan stating that all public offices and education institutions will be closed at 1 PM on Tuesday while there will be a public holiday on next day in twin cities.
Officials said strict security arrangements would be measured for the day and foreign delegation will be given full proof security. Alternative traffic plan for the residents of twin cities also finalized and announced by the administration.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan in the wake of ECO conference. According to the police, different roads of the capital will be closed for traffic from tomorrow at 1.00 pm to midnight of 1st of March.
The heavy traffic coming from Lahore will be diverted to Rawalpindi via Rawat, and meanwhile, the traffic from Peshawar will also be be diverted to Rawalpindi through Mehrabad Flyover. It has been advised to the citizens of twin cities to avoid unnecessary traveling during this period.
