Traffic Violation Fines:
In Lahore 6000 traffic violations are witnessed. To reduce traffic violation IG Police Operations in Lahore has suggested to provincial IG Police and Chief Traffic Officer to increase traffic violation fines to Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 2,000 for cars and motorbikes respectively. The ongoing fines for violation traffic rules for car drivers Rs. 500 and for motorcycle its Rs. 200.
E-challan system:
E-challan System implemented by Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) in Lahore from today. The system monitors traffic flow and fines people if they violate any traffic rules. For now, the system will only fine for Red-signal Violation. E-challans system will soon be applied for other types of violations as well, and will be delivered to the violators’ address via a courier service.
The operation of the e-challan system will be observe and handle from the PSCA’s electronic ticketing center in collaboration with the traffic police of Lahore under the compliance of Motor Vehicles Ordinance under Section 116-A of traffic rules. PSCA is looking forward to apply the similar system in all provinces of Punjab.
The fine is to be paid in 10 days or the amount might be doubled. Frequent violations or non-payment of the fine will compel the traffic police, seize the vehicle.
Posting E-challan:
The e-challan generated with the help of CCTV cameras along with the pictures of violating vehicle will be sent to the vehicle’s owner at his/her postal address through Pakistan Post. The amount of Rs.50 charge by Pakistan Post will also fall in the account of the violator.
