The continuous increase in the price of the dollar as compared to the Pakistani rupee has brought an emergency situation in the country. In the wake of this increase, a lot of people are now focusing on Pakistani products and are also selling US dollars in order to buy back Pakistani rupee so that there is an influx of dollar in the market. Pakistani celebrities are now also following the same path and are encouraging people to buy back rupee in order to bring down the value of the dollar in the open market as well as the interbank market.
One such celebrity is Hamza Ali Abbasi who tweeted that he doesn’t have any dollar account but his mother and his sister have a dollar account. He said that his mother and sister have sold all their dollars and converted them to Pakistani rupee in order to help the economy of Pakistan. He encouraged the people to follow the path of his mother and sister and ditch dollar in favor of Pakistani rupee so that our own currency value can increase. Another celebrity who encouraged people to buy rupee against dollar is veteran actor Shan Shahid who said that people should buy back Pakistani rupee even if the contribution is very less.
Shan in his tweet said that everyone should contribute their share and buy back rupee and sell US dollar. The actor said that our currency is our pride and we have to fight against this economic turmoil and defend our currency. The Pakistani rupee has devalued significantly over the past couple of weeks trading as high as Rs. 154 for a dollar in the open market. The devaluation has started a new trend in our country where people are now selling dollars to buy rupee and are also now purchasing locally made products as well.
I don't have a dollar accnt but my mother & sister have one. I am proud to announce tht today they converted all the dollars into PKR. So i request all of u to DITCH THE DOLLAR and buy Pakistani Rupee asap & play ur part in strengthening our currency! 🇵🇰 #میں_پاکستانی_ہوں
