Mehwish Hayat is a leading Pakistani singer and actress. She is well-known for her films Load Wedding, Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Actor in Law. In a recent interview with BBC Urdu, Mehwish Hayat showered praises on the former PM saying she loved Benazir Bhutto! She was the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan. That’s such a great thing! People need to see and know more about her. Further, she added, things are written on books and people do read them. But the film is another medium altogether. Our generation needs to know more about Benazir Bhutto and her sacrifices. She also said that how in if her speaking the truth and how Pakistanis were portrayed in a negative light by Bollywood and Hollywood movies meant that Indian filmmakers won’t cast her in their films then Mehwish would rather have that.
Mehwish Hayat also revealed that she has been reading about Benazir Bhutto to gear up the information for the biopic’s role. During the interview, she was also asked about the controversy that took place after receiving Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to which she responded that the size of your mentality and your mind matters, our mind should be big enough to fit both of her Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and the song billi. She quoted this is not something that she had said right there. She had been saying this all along. Maybe because of the current crisis, this has amplified so much a lot. But it has been her stance since day one!
