QS University Rankings for Asia 2013 are revealed. According to this ranking, there are some Pakistani Universities that are part of the ranking. Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad is ranked at 119th position while Agriculture University of Faisalabad is at the 150th position.
Since investment by the Government of Pakistan has been done in Higher Education, the rewards are showing up now. Seven Universities make it to top Universities of Asia and 3 of them make it to top Universities of the world.
Quacquarelli Symonds UK rankings 2013 show that Seven of Pakistani Universities are now in top 250 Universities and 3 of them are among Top 200 Universities of the world in the field of Forestry and Agriculture. Quacquarelli Symonds UK is considered a prestigious, reliable and renowned name as far as the ranking agencies are concerned.
According to Quacquarelli Symonds names of the Universities are Quaid-e-Azam University, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Agha Khan University Karachi, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), UET Lahore, University of Karachi and University of Punjab situated in Lahore are now in top 250 Universities of Asia.
Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and Faisalabad University of Agriculture are among Top 200 Universities of the world. HEC chairperson Dr. Javaid Laghari expressed his views on these achievements and said that previous years saw six Pakistani Universities among the top 300 and now seven of them are among top 250. According to him this is a significant proof of the progress made by education sector of Pakistan. The quality of education has improved and soon Pakistan will be a major player in the world in the sector of higher education. He further added that socio-economic development of Pakistan is highly dependent on this sector and HEC is the federal organisation that has made it possible.
