Famous Rockwood Estate also known as ‘Surrey Palace’ is going to be auctioned in July 2014. After being auctioned, it is anticipated that it will be demolished. Surrey Palace is spread over 360 acres of land.
Currently its estimated price is 100 Million Pound Sterling while it has an air strip as well where small aircrafts can land. Former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari is allegedly one of the past owners of this palace. It couldn’t be confirmed that at some point in time in the past, Asif Ali Zardari or Benazir Bhutto had been residing in the palace.
According to British news sources, the palace will be opened for auction on 4th of July 2014. To buy the palace, buyers from Middle East and Far East, America and Britain are showing interest.
During 1990, in corruption cases, both Asif Ali Zardari and Benazir Bhutto denied any claim to this palace but back in 2004, Asif Ali Zardari accepted that this palace is his property. In 2005 the owner of the property was changed but in last 10 years, this palace is not being used as a residential place.
Local estate agent Nick Freth said that strange parties of all kinds took place here in the palace. These parties were given by the tenants who lived here for some time. This house was built back in 1910 and some of its initial construction is still intact. In 2005 a new owner bought the house and a gate made of copper was placed which was ordered from Middle East.
