Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed an astonishing fact. According to BCB two years ago during a series between Pakistan and England that was being played at United Arab Emirates, Indian bookies tried to lure middle order batsman of Pakistan Umar Akmal by offering him huge sum of money.
According to BCB Umar Akmal received mysterious calls from unknown number. The caller wanted to offer him huge sum of money if he would perform poorly in the match.
BCB further revealed that Umar Akmal kept on receiving such offers on phone from different unknown Indian numbers. Umar Akmal showed strength of character and instead of falling for these attractive offers, he instantly contacted International Cricket Council’s (ICC) anti-corruption unit.
Officials at ICC acknowledged his behavior and strength of character and investigation was started immediately to trace down the numbers provided by Umar Akmal.
Umar Akmal is one of the very talented middle order batsmen in Pakistan National Cricket team. He has performed very well for Pakistan for the last two years or so. He has recently married Noor Amna who is the daughter of legendary spin bowler of Pakistan, Abdul Qadir.
Umar Akmal has been in news for the last few days due to the traffic warden fight scandal and additionally he has been in arguments with Pakistan Cricket Board’s security guard on the issue of parking his car outside Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
