Member National Assembly Sheikh Rasheed was off loaded from a flight that was going to Canada. PIA authorities explained to Sheikh Rasheed that he did not possess security clearance.
Sheikh Rasheed who is MNA as well as the president of Awami Muslim League was going to Canada in PIA plane. Before the plane could take off for Toronto Canada from Benazir International Airport Islamabad, he was asked to come out of the plane as he was not going anywhere.
PIA officials as reported had orders to offload Sheikh Rasheed because Canadian Transport Agency did not issue NOC (No Objection Certificate).
Sheikh Rasheed was found infuriated and he said that he had all necessary documents required to travel to Canada but he could not understand why he was provided with an offload slip from the national airline.
He was infuriated while talking to media and he said that he has been stopped on the government orders and he highly suspects that clearance was any kind of issue.
This is not my insult; this is the insult of the whole Parliament. It’s a slap on the face of democracy
Sheikh Rasheed was invited to Pakistan Day Event organized by Pakistani Canadian Cultural Association (PCCA) of Alberta in Calgary as a Chief Guest and he was travelling to attend the ceremony by PIA flight PK-781.
Tussle of Sheikh Rasheed and government of Pakistan is not unusual. Different politicians have been mistreated by government of the time and abuse of power is nothing new as far as Pakistan is concerned.
