Higher Education Commission (HEC) is the autonomous institution in Pakistan aiming to meet International educational standards, regulating the students to represent Internationally and accrediting the higher education efforts in Pakistan.
As Pakistani authorities recognizing the need of higher education, boosting it up to get talented youth to match competition with today’s world.
HEC’s step of Foreign Funded Scholarship, provides an opportunity to the students to compete the world’s top merit and win the most prestigious scholarships worldwide.
Few days back, Chairperson HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, speaking at the orientation of freshman at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology claimed that ‘35,000 Pakistani students are on HEC scholarships abroad’.
GIKI is recognized among the ‘Top Engineering Universities in Pakistan (Subject-wise rankings)’ by HEC, resting on the 4th slot.
HEC Chairperson addressing at the event told that the student on HEC scholarships are studying abroad, in various universities worldwide and their expenses are afforded by HEC. He also urged the leading institutions to play their part in nurturing the young-leaders and preparing them for future challenges.

“We live in a highly competitive world and we have to deliver in various fields.” he added.
He also highlighted ‘high-tech engineering’ as the key of Pakistan’s prosperity and said: “We need a competent and motivated manpower to address issues like poverty and underdevelopment.”
An official of Ministry of Education Training and Standards in Higher Education told that HEC has awarded 2,528 foreign and 4,108 indigenous scholarships to students during 2009-2014.
Also revealed that HEC has sent 4,204 students abroad on their financial assistance.
