3G has arrived and smartphone industry in Pakistan is booming but unfortunately still online payment mechanisms in Pakistan are under dark shadows. I needed to purchase some apps and started a search on how to buy apps from Google’s Play Store in Pakistan but I was shocked to find out that the only way to do that is via a credit card.
Everyone knows that getting a credit card is quite a difficult and hectic job. Debit cards issued by Pakistani banks do not work online. After thorough research I found that the only way to purchase apps from Google Play Store in Pakistan is via Google Play Gift Cards that you can redeem in your account.
I found that the cards were being sold on famous online website Daraz and I ordered a 10 dollar Play card but when I received it and tried to redeem it, I found the error that this card can be used in US only. Luckily it did not get wasted and I was able to update my country in Google Wallet to United States with postcode of New York.
I successfully redeemed the card and purchased the apps I needed. The only drawback was that 10 dollar card cost me 1600 Rupees. It is advisable that if you have friends or family members in UK or USA, you can ask them to buy a card for you and send the PIN to you so that you don’t have to pay extra money. You can pay them exact amount later.
Google play cards are available in different dominions like 10, 25, 50 dollars and you can purchase the one you need. It works great and you don’t need credit card or debit card to purchase something from Google Play Store while in Pakistan.
