Pasalai Keerai (Spinach) Benefits:
Spinach is the best sources of vitamins like iron, calcium, folic and many more other minerals that is requirement of our body. Spinach is known by different name as Palak in Urdu or Hindi Spinach in English and Pasalai keerai in Tamil.
It is rich in iron so always try to buy fresh Pasalai keerai in dark green color and avoid the yellowish leaves one because it does not contain high level of chlorophyll. It prevents our body from different diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, Asthma, lowering blood pressure. It is very effective for hair skin and for the health bones. Below are the recipes in English.

- Aloo palak
- Palak paneer
Spinach/ Pasalai keerai (washed and fine chopped) 3/4 kg
Potatoes (boiled and chopped ) 2
Butter or Oil 2 Tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds / Methi dana 1/4 tsp
Red chillies 2 to 3 whole
Thinly sliced ginger 1 Tbsp
Salt 1 1/2 tsp
Sugar 1 tsp
Take broad pan to heat the butter when it is heated then put cumin, whole red chilies and the methi in to in. After that add ginger when color became darker and keep cooking it til its color becomes light brown. Now add spinach and potato then add sugar and salt and mix it. Keep cooking over high heat until the excess water has dried. Now dish it out and serve it.
Pureed spinach 1 1/2 cups
Paneer (cubed and lightly fried) 500 gm
Oil 1/4 cup
cumin seeds 1 tsp
Bay leaf 1
Ginger (chopped fine) 1 tsp
Garlic (chopped fine ) 1 tsp finely
onions (grated) 1/2 cup
Tomatoes(chopped fine ) 1 cup
Salt 2 tsp
Garam masala 1/4 tsp
Red pepper (powdered) 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds (powdered) 1 tsp
First of all heat oil and add cumin, when it splutters then add ginger, bay leaf, and the garlic, and cook it till a color turns in to light brown. Now add onions and cook till a color becomes golden brown, then add tomatoes and keep the flam medium.When fat separates, add the garam masala, salt, powdered coriander seeds, the red pepper and stir till well mixed. Add spinach and cook for 2to3 minutes and add Paneer. Cook it for minimum 5 minutes then serve it.
