Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a web portal named “Smart-Pakistan” (www.smartpakistan.pk) to encourage the use of mobile broadband. It will provide one stop repository and directory of mobile applications focusing on different areas such as mEducation, mHealth, mCities, mGovernment, etc.
It is basically a platform for users to look for their required applications. This portal will engage the application developers and will provide them the opportunity to showcase their apps through this portal. It is the first path-breaking step towards the goal achievement.
The main focus of this portal will be to promote mobile apps and services related to our society along with to encourage the operators. Innovative ideas will be promoted by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and local developers.
This platform will bring all stakeholders i.e. citizens, government, mobile operators, OEMs, international organizations, academia, mobile entrepreneurs and others here for building a sustainable echo-system.
PTA has also set up a ‘Smart Pakistan m-Lab’ in collaboration with professionals from the industry at its headquarters for mentoring and coaching services for young applications developers and entrepreneurs. It will be far helpful for startups, providing them acceleration and launch services.
