Pakistani dramas are normally short and usually end after a run of less than one year and are based on Urdu novels. However, sometimes the story tends to deviate away from the novel.

The serials have been used repeatedly to transmit socio cultural messages by incorporating them into story lines. Here is the list of top ten tv serials of Pakistan:
- Humsafar
A block buster drama serial of HUM TV in 2011-12, it was repeated twice on demand of the viewers. It was directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, Lead cast of this serial including Mahira Khan, Fawad Afzal Khan, Naveeb Waqar and Atiqa Odho etc. were the key role of this serial.

- Zindagi Gulzar Hai
Another block buster drama serial of HUM TV in 2012-2013. This serial was directed by Sultana Siddiqui. Key role of this serial were Sanam Saeed, Fawad Afzal Khan, Samina Peerzada, Waseem Abbas etc.
- Aasmanon Pay Likha
It was a hit by Geo Entertainment in 2013. It was directed by Mohsin Raza and key role of this serial are Sajal Ali and Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui etc.

- Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan
It was a hit serial of Geo Entertainment in 2009. Babar Javed was the director of this serial, Lead cast of this serial is Samiya Mumtaz,Faisal Qureshi, Samina Peerzada and Sarwat Gillani.
- Khuda Aur Muhabbat
It was a hit serial of Geo Entertainment in 2011. This serial was directed by Anjum Shehzad, Lead cast of the serial includes Sadia Khan and Imran Abbas Naqvi etc.
- Jahez
It was a hit serial of Geo Entertainment in 2012. It was directed by Babar Javed and lead cast of the serial includes Hina Dilpazeer, Abid Ali, Faisal Qureshi, Uroosa Siddiqui, Sadia Ghaffar and Tehreem Zubairi etc.
- Mera Saaein
It was a hit serial of ARY DIGITAL in 2011. Babar Javed was the director of the serial and lead cast includes Savera Nadem, Noman Ijaz, Aamina Sheikh, Sunita Marshall and Beenish Chohan etc.
- Daam
It was a hit serial of ARY DIGITAL in 2010. This serial was direction of Mehreen Jabbar and lead cast of the serial includes the names of Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Baloch, Adeel Hussain, Nimra Bucha and Sanam Saeed.
- Shehr-e-Zaat
