Virtual University is one of the largest distance education provider in Pakistan. Virtual University is offering various program sin undergraduate and post-graduate fields. Moreover, various type of short courses and postgraduate diplomas are also the part of its study schemes. The university is offering its educational programs for both local students and Pakistani students residing overseas in various countries.
To assists the students in pursuing their educational career, VU is offering two kinds of scholarship programs,
- Need-Based Scholarships
- Merit-Based Scholarships
The scholarships in both categories are opened for both newly admitted students and continuing students. The aim of providing merit-based scholarships is to encourage healthy academic completion amongst students and; need-based scholarship is for providing financial assistance to deserving students.
In both cases, the scholarship will be given for the partial or full remission of the applicable tuition fee only. Other dues have to be paid by the students. Moreover, these scholarships shall be for one semester only.
Eligibility Criteria for Merit-Based Scholarships
- Students must not be the recipient of any other scholarship or financial assistance from any other source.
- Students have not received exemption for any course(s).
Criteria for newly admitted students:
At least 65% marks or 3.0 CGPA in case of 4.0 or 4.0 in case of 5.0 CGPA is required.
Criteria for continuing students:
- Students must have accumulated an equal or higher number of credits as prescribed in the applicable scheme of study.
- Minimum 3.25 in each semester and overall 3.00 CGPA are required to be eligible for the merit scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria for Need Based Scholarships
- Students must not a repeater or studying in fail course or subject.
- Need based scholarships are for local students only.
Criteria for newly admitted students:
- At least 60% marks or 2.5 CGPA in case of 4.0 or 3.5 in case of 5.0 CGPA is required.
- The top students in the merit list of need based scholarship will be awarded with scholarship
Criteria for continuing students:
Students must have accumulated an equal or higher number of credits as prescribed in the applicable scheme of study.
Minimum 2.25 in each semester and overall 2.50 CGPA are required to be eligible for merit scholarship.
Termination of Scholarship:
Under the following circumstances, the scholarship in both categories for both newly admitted and continuing students, the scholarship will be terminated if
- The awardee student discontinues/withdraws/freezes studies;
- Found in illegal cases or convicted in any disciplinary or unfair means case.
Students whose scholarship has been terminated as per above circumstances will be ineligible for applying another scholarship schemes or grant of the VU during the same study program.
Moreover, in addition to need-based and merit-based scholarship programs of VU, students of VU can also apply for HEC announced scholarships, USAID scholarships, Syeda Mubarik begum Scholarships (female students), NBP Student Loan Scheme, Talent Scholarships by Punjab Workers Welfare Scholarships and many other that are announced time to time by the said university.
