A columnist is a person who writes for newspapers or publication in a series by creating articles on multiple subjects particularly current affairs. Column somehow refers to the kind of opinion and commentary.
At present, Pakistan has almost seventy-five leading columnists in which most popular one are Hamid Mir, Javed Chaudhry, Orya Maqbool Jan, Hassan Nisar, Harron Rashid, Ayaz Mir, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Nazi Naji and Ata ul Haq Qasmi and few others.
The columns of Pakistani columnists mostly appear in national newspapers and other publications, including a blog. These consist of short story essay offering a personal point of view. Most of the columnists in Pakistan are written by the columnists only while there are few ones whose columns written by a team or composite. Some columnists write columns on a daily basis and some write on a weekly basis.
