CSS (Central Superior Services)
The Central Superior Services (denoted as CSS or Bureaucracy) is an elite permanent bureaucratic authority, and the civil service that is responsible for running the civilian bureaucratic operations and government secretariats and directorates of the Cabinet secretariat. The CSS officers serve the country wide departments and they will have to travel to far and wide areas of the country. Basically, CSS is the name given to a group of highly prestigious and powerful Pakistani Federal Government Departments. Recruitment to the officer’s cadre (Basic Pay Scale 17) of these services is extremely competitive. The government of Pakistan conducts CSS Exam or the Competitive Exam to fill up Grade-17 posts in 12 different service groups every year. These occupational groups of CSS are:
- Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service
- Police Service of Pakistan (PSP)
- District Management Group (DMG)
- Income Tax Group (ITG)
- Customs and Excise Group (CEG)
- Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP)
- Postal Group (PG)
- Commerce & Trade Group (CTG)
- Railways Group (RG)
- Information Group (IG)
- Military Lands and cantonment Group (MLCG)
CSS 2016 commitment date for Examination
According to the official announcement:
- CSS-2016 Commencement Date: 18 February 2016
- Last Date to Apply: 31 October 2015
CSS ELIGIBILITY:
Both male and female candidates are eligible
Nationality: Pakistani
Education: Graduation (14 years of education)
Age: 21 – 28 years on 31st of the preceding December.
For example, for CSS-2016 age must be between 21 – 28 years on 31 December 2015.
CSS AGE-LIMITS
A candidate for admission to the CSS Examination-2016 must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 28 years on 31st December 2015 (i.e. a candidate born on or before 31st December 1987 and on or after 2nd January 1995 will not be eligible).
CSS Syllabus & Rules for 2016
Syllabus for CSS 2016 exam is told. As the time is short according to an official announcement. So candidates are advised to enhance their skills and stamina.
SUBJECTS FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION (1200 MARKS)
Syllabus and Rules for Compulsory and Optional Papers of Competitive Examination (CSS) by Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), Pakistan.
CSS COMPULSORY SUBJECTS (600 MARKS)
The six CSS Compulsory papers are of 100 marks each having the time duration of three hours in all papers. All candidates must take all the compulsory papers.

CSS OPTIONAL SUBJECTS (600 MARKS)
The candidates are required to select optional subjects carrying a total of 600 marks. The subjects carrying two papers of 100 marks each, like Accountancy & Auditing, Economics in Group-I must have to take both the papers.
