Pakistan Super League’s debut edition is heading towards its end. As the 1st Playoff game was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on February 19.
The match was an epic contest between both the sides; many of the spectators were of the view that it was a match they have not ever thought about. The contest was full of dramas, twists and fighting spirits of cricketers which made a game highly complex which was once looking an one sided affair for the other side.
As we know that Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators were the top teams of PSL this edition and they ended the first round of PSL as toppers on the point table as both grabbed 6 wins out of 8 group matches, although Zalmis were a tad ahead of them because of the Net run rate.
This nail-biting contest opened up as the ordinary game of cricket but it was an epic contest which got decided on the last ball of the match.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and opted to bowl first, the decision looked quite favorable as they manged to rid off the openers early on, but later two big-wigs of the cricket Kumar Sangakkara and Kevin Pietersen build up tremendous innings.
While both these stars got settled on the crease it was looking easy for Gladiators to setup of 160+ total, but after their departure Zalmis crushed Gladiators falling them all out on 133 in 19.3 overs.
Zalmis while chasing this total, walked steadily but with brilliant bowling of Anwar Ali and Muhammad Nawaz Gladiators were able to give them a tough time.
In the later part, Sammy and Afridi added some crucial runs but they departed at the time when they were most needed. Wahab Riaz also added some crucial runs , which were even not enough to get a win. Finally, Quetta Gladiators were able to beat Peshawar Zalmi by 1 run.
