The Badshahi Mosque located in Lahore, capital of the province of Punjab, is a Mughal-era masjid. The mosque is situated west of Lahore Fort along the Walled City of Lahore and is considered to be one of the most Lahore’s iconic landmarks. It is one of the largest and last mosques builds by imperial Mughals. Badshahi Mosque has been one of those most popular places for Nikkah ceremonies, videography and photography. However, we have a piece of bad news here for all the people who wanted to have their wedding or Nikkah shoots in Badshahi Masjid.
According to the first team of the photographers, Palwasha Minhas stated Badshahi Mosque’s gatekeepers have banned wedding photography completely since yesterday following date 19th December.
Silently, it is good news for the photographers as even when permission was granted for wedding photoshoots only 15 minutes were given for photography and that gets troubling for photographers to capture moments in such a hurry while it is a great disappoint for newlywed couples. But, Lahore is a beautiful city with not only just historic places but also other stunning mosques where couples can shift to their wedding photography and videography. However, some of the people are happy with the decision as they think that mosques are not built for the photoshoots with such crazy poses. Even photographers have breathed a sigh of relief as it was so hard for them to cover the whole event in just 15 minutes!
From locals to celebrities, everyone enjoys capturing their memories in this historical place.
Either way from now it looks like all newlyweds have to change their wedding photography plans and switch Masjids. Not a big problem, lucky us, Lahore is bountiful with mesmerizing mosques.
The fashion magazine ‘Sunday Times’ wrote, “Badshahi Mosque has banned wedding photography and videography. Current bookings are safe but no new bookings will be taken until any further notice.”
Newlyweds don’t need to worry as Lahore is packed with numerous beautiful historical mosques and newlywed couples can find so many great alternatives. Till then, here, fingers crossed and looking forward to further notices!
