Although a number of women are working in the unusual designations all over the country but still there are places where the role of women is negligible especially when it comes to the world outside the domestic premises. Pakpattan is one such place where it was difficult to think of a woman as a security force personnel. The scene has changed now when a lady SHO has been appointed to the district at the Model police station Daloryam. It is a one of its kind appointment so far that has gained immense appreciation even from those who never accepted the women outside the chadar and chardiwari thing.
The new SHO Kulsoom Fatima started her journey as an SI. She was appointed at the Saddar police station. The DPO of the area Ibadat Nisar said that the step was taken to salute the abilities and talent of the women who were always underestimated due to the gender bias and prejudice.
According to the high officials the outcome of appointing the female staff at key posts has resulted in positive results. The women are equally poised and able to carry on the task of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The new SHO Kulsoom is also of the view that security and prosperity are closely linked. Despite the concerns of the public over appointing a female SHO she is hopeful that she will be the change maker. It is not the gender but the motivation that actually counts a great deal.
Islam is a broad religion. It has emphasized upon the rights of women and has recognized them as pivotal players in the national development. They can go at all lengths. This kind of appointment is a sign for the world that thinks Islam confines women in shackles, that woman in Islam can do miracles when needed.
