The world has been tangled in the manacles of coronavirus pandemic nowadays. It has been that the virus caused the death of around 21,000 patients. Moreover, more than 400,000 people are suffering from it. Therefore, scientists are now spending more time in the laboratory to make the vaccine of this newly discovered virus. Besides the USA, UK, and China, Pakistan has also announced that it will work to make the vaccine of the epidemic to fight against it.
Recently, Fawad Chaudhry- Federal Minister for Science and Technology, executed the formation of a committee “Scientific Task Force on COVID-19” and task the committee to make a vaccine of the infection.
According to the constitution and paper, Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman- organic chemist and professor, will lead the committee while there is the inclusion of Prof. Dr. Javed Akram- vice-chancellor of University of Health Sciences Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shazna Khalid- visiting faculty at Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), UHS and Continental Medical School Lahore, Prof. Al Fareed Zafar- founder VC of Faisalabad Medical University, Prof. Iqbal Choudhury- Director of International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr Khalid Khan- distinguished investigator at the University of Grenada, and Prof. Mariam Riaz Tarrar- professor of pathology at SMDC.
According to the tweet of Mr. Fawad, the team is tasked to do research on the vaccine of coronavirus and things related to it by coordinating with each other. The tweet said that the team has to collect material by reading papers and information that researchers of other countries have collected. Besides, the minister said that there will be an initiation of Science Data Research Foundation that will answer questions of the readers and viewers.
Although the step is thought-provoking, the minister is trolled on social media. The majority of the users made fun of him yet some of the users supported him as well. However, there is the inclusion of one pathologist even though pathologists and virologists are specialized in making vaccines. Though, under the leadership of Mr. Rehman, the committee will be able to fulfill the task and free us from the quarantine and lockdown that has to bind us in the homes.
