The Wedding season is on once again and we see weddings taking place in every street, every market and every wedding hall is booked. We hear marriage songs everywhere. Wedding in Pakistan is a very colorful event. It has three or four stages to get to the end and those stages are Ubtan or Mayoun, Mehandi, Barat and Vallima. In Mayoun bride remains inside home at least for three day and maximum 7 days.

On last day of Mayoun a ubtan is pasted on the body of the bride and after a hour she cleans it. Ubtan is herbal that glows the skin. After Mayoun next event is Mehnadi , Mehandi is the most colorful event of the wedding because it contains lots of fun. Girls and boys from side of bride and groom goes for a battle of dance and songs and traditional Dholak is played. Light food is served in this event as well like Dahi Bhalay, gol Gappy , Pan and Biryani is served. Many songs have been sung for the event of Mehandi.

The most popluar songs of Mehandi are Mehandi Taan Sajdi, Mehandi hy rachny wali, Zara Dholki bajao goriyon Mehandi ki Khusbu sy and many many more. After Mehandi next event is Baraat, in Baraat groom along with his parents, relatives and close friends goes to brides home and there the most important part of Islamic marriage is carried out and that is Nikah where bride and groom accept each other as husband and wife by three times accepting the same. After Nikah the groom takes the bride and goes back. After the Baraat next event is Vallima, In Vallima groom gives dinner or lunch to his relatives, relatives of wife and close friends and in this way wedding completes.
