According to the statistics of Government of Pakistan at present there are over 8 million Pakistani people living in other countries. Majority of them is residing in the Middle East. If talk about remittances then no doubt, overseas Pakistanis are contributing a large amount in national treasury for last many years. Pakistan is the tenth country in the world in case of overseas remittances that is around $20 billion per year.

For the welfare of overseas Pakistanis, it is important to give them as much facilities as they deserve. They are still deprived of many Pakistani rights. However, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is doing its work for the identity problems of overseas Pakistanis. NADRA has launched National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) for the overseas Pakistanis to declare then a valid and legitimate citizen of Pakistan. At first step it was being issued to only overseas Pakistanis working, living, staying and studying abroad for a consecutive time period of six months or possessing dual nationalities, but, now it is available to any citizen of Pakistan.
NADRA NICOP Online Application Procedure:
Willing overseas Pakistanis are required to follow the below mentioned steps for NICOP.
- Data Acquisition at Data Acquisition Unit (DAU)
- Issuance of Token
- Photo Capturing
- Thumb and Signatures
- Data Acquisition by DEO
- Form Printing
- Attestation & Form Submission
- Data uploading to NADRA Data Warehouse
- Verification and Clearance from NADRA Data Warehouse
- Printing at Production
- Delivery of NICOP to NSRC or Address

Birth Certificate or Old CNIC or Matriculation Certificate or CNICs of near relatives or Passport (compulsory in case of new).
