The CEO of giant web-based shopping portal eBay, Devin Wenig, has hinted to step in Pakistan very soon.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum, CEO of eBay has appreciated the taste of Pakistani s towards the online shopping stores particularly eBay. In a Facebook Live session at WEF, Devin Wenig encouraged the Pakistanis to use the online shopping site. He also admitted that although recently there is no official portal of eBay for Pakistan and that Pakistanis are using the others means to get their favorite products from the eBay.
“We absolutely encourage you to shop, and we will get our goods and service in Pakistan for sure. Go and use eBay in Pakistan”, he added. The CEO was asked a question by participants for launch in Pakistan and role of Pakistan in emerging markets. He replied, “It is the fastest growing markets we have around the world. Anywhere where wealth is growing, and technology is being adopted, e-commerce is being adopted like crazy.”
Devin Weing admitted that the countries with more wealth or where there is no access to the cheap goods and services always prove as the perfect opportunity for the online shopping sites. For the same reasons, its popularity is increasing in Pakistan. Just like rest of the countries, Pakistanis use online shopping site to get access to cheap goods.
He predicted that the number of eBay users in Pakistan will increase more because of increase in 3G and 4G internet users in the country. The development in the field of internet and technology will bring door of opportunities for eBay, Amazon, PayPal, etc. in Pakistan.
Answering the question of when eBay will launch in Pakistan, he replied although there is no official version of eBay for Pakistan, still there are many means for accessing its services.
He concluded, “We absolutely encourage you to shop, and we will get our goods and services in Pakistan for sure. Go and use eBay in Pakistan.”
