The troop of Indian soldiers attacked at Pulwama district and killed the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Riyaz Naikoo on Wednesday along with his people at his home near Himalaya that resulted in death of four commanders.
According to inspector general of Police in Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, the police and soldiers trapped the commander in the house and had a gun battle in which Naikoo and his associates were killed in the morning.
The reports informed that troops utilized explosives to blast on two civilian homes during the attack to find out the commander. However, the operation was launched late night on Tuesday when intelligence informed the troops that Naiyoo is hiding at Pulwama district in South Kashmir in a village. Hundreds of police and armed-men began operation in Awntipora after receiving the information about sheltering of rebels.
The residents said that the troops dig school grounds and different patches of land via earth movers to look for the rebels if they had been hiding underground.
Ryaz Naikoo was a 35-year-old rebel soldier who joined Separatists in 2012. He was mathematics teachers who aided former commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan Wani. The professor strengthens the rebel movement. He unified all divisions of the movement.
The experts are saying that the departure of main leader of the movement might worsen the relations. The professor of International Relations at University of Westminster, Dibyesh Anand, told Al-Jazeera that there will disturbance in the relations of between India and Kashmir as there will be an increment in anxiety among the population of Kashmir towards India’s nationalist government. Mr. Anand further said that he give the reason of his previous statements. He said that anger and anxiety will increase because the aim of the nationalist government is to eradicate all resistances and opposition forces in the disputed state.
Authorities and government installed communication and internet ban in the state to prevent people to gather at places to pay their grievances and mourn on the death of Riyaz Naikoo. The inspector said that troops beat the locals as they pelted them with stones to create disturbance in the conduction of operation.
The police informed that 30 people were injured during the operation due to the clash between protestors and security forces. The official of the police said that the people of Srinagar were also included in the injured people.
Since the death of Burhan Wani, Kashmir has been in turmoil due to the aggression of locals who want independence from the nationalist mindset at all cost.
